COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2018 - 6:00 P.M.
LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

The Wrenshall Board of Education's Special Meeting to canvass election returns was called to order at 6:03 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 by Board Chair Laveau in the Library Media Center.

Members present: Matthew Laveau, Janaki Fisher-Merritt, Renae House, Michelle Blanchard, Tony Sheda and Warren Weiderman.

The board canvassed the result of the November 6, 2018 election. A report was presented including election results and precinct voting statistics.

Three (3) school board positions were on the ballot. The following were elected to the positions, each for a four (4) year term expiring January 1, 2023: Michelle Blanchard, Debra Washnesky, Randall Jack Eudy. Candidates on the ballot and corresponding votes are as follows:
Michelle Blanchard - 516,
Debra Washnesky - 553,
Randall Jack Eudy - 621,
Cindy Bourn - 437, write-in - 57.
Motion by Weiderman seconded by House to accept the returns of votes for School Board Members in the School District General Election as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Referendum ballot and corresponding votes are as follows:
Question 1: 482 in favor, 534 against, 43 blank/defective. Motion to declare failed Question 1 by Weiderman seconded by House. Motion carried unanimously.
Question 2: 366 in favor, 640 against, 53 blank/defective. Motion to declare failed Question 2 by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Sheda. Motion carried unanimously.
Question 3: 413 in favor, 593 against, 53 blank/defective. Motion to declare failed Question 3 by Blanchard seconded by House. Motion carried unanimously.

The special meeting to canvass election results was adjourned at 6:18 p.m. The Committee of the Whole meeting immediately follows this meeting.

The Wrenshall Board of Education's Committee of the Whole Meeting was called to order at 6:18 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the Library Media Center.

Valerie Dahl, Head Cook, presented information and developments in food service area.

Taylor Dickinson and Craig Honkala from Institute for Environmental Assessment (IEA) presented their potential contract for safety consultant services at Wrenshall School.

January 2019 meeting dates were set:
Wrenshall School Board Organizational/Committee of the Whole meeting - January 9, 2019.
Wrenshall School Board Meeting - January 14, 2019.

School Board comments and discussion regarding the November 6, 2018 failed referendum.

Finalized Wrenshall School Board response letter to the Carlton School Board.
