Western Lake Superior Sanitary District and area partners kicked off the annual Treecycling program this week, encouraging residents to recycle their fresh-cut holiday trees. This free holiday tree recycling program offers multiple locations available 24 hours a day throughout the region. Carlton County locations will be available Dec. 21 through Jan. 12:
Sappi mill gatehouse entrance, Cloquet.
Moose Lake Compost Site, across from city garage.
“Holiday trees, like yard and garden waste, are banned from the trash in Minnesota,” Karen Anderson, WLSSD’s director of community relations, said in a news release. “These materials contain valuable resources that can be reclaimed through Treecycling. Collected trees will be beneficially reused as fuel, as mulch to line paths, or for other purposes, while recovering resources and saving landfill space.”
WLSSD’s Yard Waste Compost Site will be open beginning Thursday, Dec. 19, for residents who may take down their trees before the holidays.
