Five days of fun in the sun during Esko Fun Days came to an end Saturday, Aug. 10.
The 22nd annual Kristen Burkholder 5K walk/run drew about 200 entries. Sean Gaskell, a 2007 Esko alumnus, took first place with a time of 16:49. The 30-year-old had been on a forced break for 1 ½ years due to an injury. This is the second race he has won this summer.
The race was followed by a parade, a barbecue in Northridge Park and a street dance at the Esko Fire Hall.

He took a year and a half off of running due to an injury and is happy to be back."This is my second race in the last 1 1/2 years," Gaskell said. "It hurts getting back into shape, but I'm just glad to be healthy." Olson is a Moose Lake alum and is currently running at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
