Chub Lake Tree Farm, just south of Carlton at 1867 East Chub Lake Road, will participate in the national program Trees for Troops for a 15th year.

This will be the 12th consecutive year the Chub Lake Tree Farm has acted as a collection site for donated trees. The trees leaving Whortons’ farm will be delivered to Ft. Riley, Kan., and will be picked up for delivery Dec. 9.

This year, 75 stateside bases, as well as four overseas bases, are included on the receiving end of this nationwide endeavor. FedEx donates the ground and air miles. Chub Lake Tree Farm has donated over 1,200 trees for military families stationed in the U.S.

The weekend of Dec. 7 and 8 has been designated as “Trees for Troops Weekend." Chub Lake Tree Farm will be celebrating the event along with volunteer members of the local National Guard unit, Crazy Troop 1-94 CAV.

Donations are accepted next to the cash register at Chub Lake Tree Farm. If you would like to donate but are unable to visit the farm, call Chub Lake Tree Farm at 218-384-4549.
