Friends, family and fellow runners came together Saturday in a race for one of their own. Well-known and longtime Milltown Milers runner Jim Hagerl has been fighting stage 4 brain cancer since he was diagnosed in 2016, two weeks after completing a 50K race. It’s been an expensive process, said running pal Tim Krohn, so his friends figured what better way to help out than a 5Kish race in his honor?
Jimmer’s Benefit 5K started at the Rendezvous Sports Bar and wound around Scanlon, past Jimmer’s house, where many stopped for a drink of beer or water and waved at Hagerl, who was watching from inside. Krohn said they raised around $16,000 through the run and silent auction to help pay medical expenses. To donate, click on the following link: JIMMER
