Appropriately, the birthday cake at Lorren Lindevig’s 84th birthday party Sunday was covered with musical notes, decorated especially for the Cloquet man (and Carlton High School grad) who has spent countless hours bringing happy accordion music to audiences across the Northland.

Also appropriately, the party was held at the Cloquet VFW, where Lindevig has been playing for the senior dances for 20 years, often with his good friend and fellow accordion player, Florian Chmielewski by his side (photo at right).

Chmielewski was there Sunday, as were the musician friends who hosted the party (drummer Mark Macham, Victoria Macham, Doris Ziebarth, keyboard player Rod Mattson) and more than 100 other guests who filled up the party room at club on Arch Street.

Of course, Lindevig couldn’t resist joining his friends as they played, and he is pictured here on the accordion (right) while Ron Setniker plays a colorful button box, both of them members of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
