The Esko Board of Education, Independent School District No. 99, Esko, Minnesota, held their regular board meeting on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the board conference room.

Members present: Julian Bertogliat, Jerry Frederick, Todd Rengo, Jeff Salo, Margaret Sunnarborg, and Superintendent Aaron Fischer. Member absent: Mark Nyholm.

Call the Meeting to Order
Chairperson Julian Bertogliat called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

Approve Project Labor Agreement
Moved by Jeff Salo, second by Todd Rengo to approve Project Labor Agreement relating to the upcoming long-term facilities maintenance projects as presented. (Copy on file in the office of the superintendent.) Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Administrative Reports
Board Committee Reports:
Todd Rengo - Safety Committee meeting, Community Education Advisory Committee meeting.
Jerry Frederick - Technology Committee meeting.
Julian Bertogliat - Arrowhead Regional Computing Consortium meeting, Safety Committee meeting.
Principals' Reports:
Elementary Principal Brian Harker reported a new application for the ADSIS Grant has been submitted. The ADSIS Grant includes the new elementary math position. He also reported that next year there is a projection of four sections per grade in the elementary. Jill Harden will be returning from leave and there will be some staffing changes per grade level. There is a new process for parents requesting a particular teacher for their students. Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for April 4th.
High School Principal Greg Hexum reported that there is a preregistration process going on now in the high school. Testing will be held during April and early May. He also updated on College in the Schools teaching requirements and the waiver put in place.
Superintendent's Report:
Supt. Aaron Fischer reported that the capital outlay list for FY 18 will be provided to the Board in April after the bids for the HVAC project come in. The electrical and HVAC packages are currently available for bidders. There is a mandatory walk-through for interested bidders at 8:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017. The casework and the controls packages are not ready for bidders at this time. The construction manager is working on these.
He also reported that Cool Kids will be hosted this summer, with adjustments to accommodate the summer constructions projects.

Congratulations and Commendations
Cynthia Johnson for being named Central District Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
All people who helped make Imagine It Day possible, under the direction of Joyce Bergstedt.
Coaches and assistant coaches for the successful winter sports teams, including the pep band and director.
Bands and choirs for advancing to regions.
Robotics for their successful regional showing.
High School Math Team for going to the State Math meet.
All of the people who work behind the scenes to make Esko's extra-curricular opportunities work (trainer, ticket takers, clock runners, etc.)
