Carlton County residents can recycle fresh cut Christmas trees during the county's Treecycling program, according to a news release.
Like yard waste, Christmas trees are banned from landfills in Minnesota, the press release said.
The free program provides drop-off locations for people to recycle their trees throughout the region. Participants must remove all ornaments, lights, tree stands and tree bags before bringing their tree to a Treecycling location.
Treecycling hours and locations are as follows:
- Sappi Fine Paper, gatehouse entrance, East End Ave. B, Cloquet: Dec. 23 to Jan. 11, 2021.
- Moose Lake Compost Site, across from the Moose Lake city garage: Dec. 23 to Jan. 11, 2021.
- WLSSD Materials Recovery Center, 4587 Ridgeview Road, Duluth: Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 18 to Jan. 31, 2021. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- WLSSD Yard Waste Compost Site, 2626 Courtland St., Duluth: Daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 18 to Jan. 31, 2021.
