Optimistic residents carrying umbrellas and wearing raincoats braved the rain Thursday, July 4, to line up for the Cloquet parade. The heavy rain slowed to a drizzle until finally stopping shortly before the parade began.

The crowds lined both sides of Cloquet Avenue as children dressed in patriotic colors held candy bags.

The weather cooperated for several hours as hundreds of families visited Cloquet Area Fire District station for a free root beer float and stood in lines so children could play in one of several bounce houses lined up in Veterans Memorial Park. Fireworks ended the celebration.
