CARLTON — Greetings from Carlton Community Education!

Fall is definitely upon us and classes and programming for Community Education are in full swing, although there wasn’t much of a break over the summer!

Our summer was packed with awesome opportunities for students, adults and families! We held three different camps for children to participate in, there was STEM Camp Jr., STEM Camp and Summer Learning Camp! Two of these camps were held in June and one was held the beginning of August. Numbers were strong and campers and staff alike were busy! We had a total of 140 students participate between the three camps.

Carlton Community Education also sponsored the Bubble Dance Party that took place following the parade during Carlton Daze. It was a popular event that attracted many kids of varying ages. They danced like crazy and enjoyed being surrounded in bubbles!

Another popular event this summer was National Night Out, which was on Tuesday, Aug. 2 in the center of Carlton. It was a fun night to be in town! There was a bounce house for kids, live music, a visit from the Zoomobile, emergency vehicles to explore, free food and more!

Currently we have classes being offered for a variety of ages. Tae Kwon Do, yoga, folkloric Middle Eastern dance and more! We already held another successful mushroom foraging class in the beginning of September. This continues to be a popular offering, which is exciting!

This week kicks off a returning (new last spring) after-school class for our elementary students called Krafty Kids. Our first session filled up quickly and then it was decided we should add a second date, which also has filled up!

We are excited for the new school year and all that is to come in the future in Carlton Community Education programming!

"Since 2001, we’ve been providing students in grades 2-6 with a safe, fun and educational after-school program. We’ve offered every class imaginable from making cribbage boards to snowshoeing to robotics and we’re still going strong," writes Vicki Radzak.
