WRENSHALL — Happy Fall Everyone from Wrenshall Community Education!

We had a nice summer break and are back up and running!

I’m Ashley Laveau, the new Community Education Director for Wrenshall School. I have been doing this job for a year now and I love it!

Here are some updates from Wrenshall Community Education:

Late summer and fall we have had a Family Open Gym Night, Honey Bee class with Northern Outdoor Club for students in grades 3-5, and the ZooMobile did a presentation for students in grades K-2. The ZooMobile will be coming back to do a presentation for the preschoolers.

We have a new physical education class called Soul Fusion. It is a mix of yoga, cardio bursts, balance sequence and strength training exercises all set to crazy fun music. All you need is a yoga mat and a set of weights (2 lbs). The class is held on Monday evenings in the Wrenshall School Commons Area at 5:30 p.m. You can purchase an eight-class punch card for $64 or drop-in for $10 per class. This class is instructed by the wonderful Hilary McClausland. You can purchase a punch card through Community Ed at or 218-384-4274, ext. 3100.

We are currently running an American Sign Language Class on Tuesdays. It meets after school until 4:30 p.m. The last day for the class is Nov. 8.

We will be having Family Open Gyms every other month. Please watch for dates.

We have an Elementary Art Club that is hosted by our amazing art teacher. Art Club is one Thursday a month from 3-4:30 p.m. Dates for Art club are: Thursday, Oct. 27, Dec. 1, Feb. 23, March 30 and April 27. Register by emailing

We also have a Dungeons and Dragons group after school on Wednesdays for teens. Another one of our amazing teachers is hosting this free, adventure-packed afternoon.

We will be having a Lego Club starting up soon that will be hosted by one of our wonderful paraprofessionals.

On Friday, Oct. 28, Community Education teamed up with the Wrenshall PIE Group to do a Halloween Family Night fundraiser. It’s from 5-7 p.m. at Wrenshall School. We will have a dance, costume parade, baked goods, concessions, and more!

Northern Outdoor Club is coming to do a prehistoric Skills Program in November for grades 3-6.

We will be having a split CPR/First Aid class on Nov. 16 and Nov. 23 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. instructed by a Certified American Red Cross instructor.

On Nov. 17, I will be hosting a Doll Club for grades K-4. It will meet after school until 4:30 p.m. The children will get to bring their own dolls. They will be able to have a snack, play time, and story time with their dolls.
