Thursday, July 21

Snack Chat, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Cloquet Public Library. REACH sponsors the weekly event for kids. Participants will make a snack and chat with others while they eat.

Family Game Night, 4-6 p.m., Cloquet Public Library.

American Legion Auxiliary Burger/Coney Fundraiser, 4-7 p.m., Cloquet VFW parking lot, 210 Arch St. The cost for a burger and fries is $10; burger alone is $9; coney with fries $7; coney alone $5; French fries $3. Free dessert with purchase of either a burger or coney. All proceeds will go to programs for local veterans.

Between the Lines Book Club, 3:30 p.m., Cloquet Public Library. The library’s monthly book club will discuss “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman. All are welcome to join! Copies of the book can be reserved through the library catalog or purchased at local booksellers. Discussion questions are available at the library loggy, the checkout desk and the library website. Refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday Night at the Races, 6 p.m., Cloquet High School. The free summer race series for children ages 14 and under comes to Cloquet. Race distances range from ⅛ mile for children age 4 and under to ½ mile for children age 13 and 14. Adaptive and wheelchair athlete opportunities will be available at all locations. Snake Discovery presents “Snake, Rattle & Roll,” 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Cloquet Public Library. The free program for all ages will focus on reptiles and amphibians that call Minnesota and Wisconsin home. Attendees will get to watch a salamander eat, debunk turtle myths, touch snakes and more. Snake Discovery will bring a tiger salamander, one to two native turtles, three to four native snakes and two to four exotic reptiles. A large boa constrictor named Doug will also make an appearance. Time will be set aside after the presentation for attendees to touch and hold the reptiles.

A Nesting Place, second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 1-2 p.m. Community Memorial Hospital/Raiter Family Clinic host the free group for new moms regardless of where their baby was delivered.
