The Board of Education of Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in regular session on Monday, June 18, 2018. Emerson called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. The meeting continued with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Chmielewski, Emerson, Gibson, Karp, Lehto with Superintendent Carman and Business Manager Eiffler. Hagenah absent.

MOTION by Karp to approve amended meeting agenda was supported by Gibson. Motion passed 5-0.

No public comment was offered.

Congratulations to Coach Nicole Paulson and Jayden Swanson for making it to the Minnesota State Track Meet in the Triple Jump.

Congratulations to Coach Melissa Clark and the Softball team for winning the Consolation Bracket at the Minnesota 1A State Softball Tournament.

Congratulations to Coach Ryan Schmidt and the Baseball Team for making to it to the Section 7A Finals.

Reports were given by High School Principal Craig Kotsmith, South Terrace Elementary Principal Benjamin Midge, Community Education Director Daisy Rose, Superintendent Gwen Carman and the Certified Negotiations Committee reported that negotiations went well with Benjamin Midge and a new contract should be presented at the next Board meeting.

MOTION by Lehto to approve the amended consent agenda:
Approve the Minutes, May 31, 2018 Special School Board Meeting.
Approve May payroll for a total of $401,137.55 and wires summative at $124,023.68.
Approve the June finance checks in the amount of $255,861.76.
Approve 2018-19 Arrowhead Regional Computing Consortium (ARCC) Contract.
Approve the Northern Lights Special Education Cooperative 2018-19 Contract for Physical Therapy.
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding between Foster Grandparent Program of NE MN & NW WI.
Karp supported the motion. Motion passed 5-0.

Discussion was held regarding the possible co-op sports and activities with Wrenshall.

Motion by Emerson to authorize Superintendent Carman to pursue co-op cross county for 2018-19 with Wrenshall was supported by Chmielewski. Roll call vote was called: Chmielewski-yea, Karp-yea, Gibson-nay, Emerson-yea, Lehto-yea. Motion passed 4-1.

MOTION by Karp to approve the 2018-2023 Lead in Water Testing Plan was supported by Lehto. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto to approve LIEC Non-Concurrence Response was supported by Gibson. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Gibson to approve Resolution Establishing Filing Dates For General Election To Office of School Board was supported by Chmielewski. Roll call vote was called: Emerson-yea, Gibson-yea, Karp-yea, Chmielewski-yea, Lehto-yea. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto to approve granting 50 foot radius permanent easement to City of Carlton for Well No. 5 located on South Terrace Property was supported by Karp. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Gibson to approve the food service pricing for 2018-2019 was supported by Lehto. Motion passed 5-0. Single milk will remain $0.60 each. Kindergarten breakfasts are free by State Statute 124D.111 and 124D.1158. Other pricing will be adjusted as follows upon the recommendation of INAC:
Elementary:
Breakfast 2017-18 was $1.85; 2018-19 to be$1.90
Lunch 2017-18 was $2.70; 2018-19 to be$2.75
High School:
Breakfast 2017-18 was $1.85; 2018-19 to be$1.90
Lunch 2017-18 was $2.80; 2018-19 to be$2.85
Adult:
Breakfast 2017-18 was $2.25; 2018-19 to be$4.15
Lunch 2017-18 was $2.30; 2018-19 to be$4.20

MOTION by Karp to approve Jason Crane as Head Football Coach for the 2018-19 school year per Schedule C of the Master Contract was supported by Lehto. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto to approve Lucas Beireis as Head Girls Basketball Coach for the 2018-19 school year per Schedule C of the Master Contract was supported by Gibson. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Chmielewski to approve the hire of Gabrielle Bremer as summer substitute for Bulldog Kids care was supported by Gibson. Hours on a needed basis at a rate of pay of $10.50 per hour. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Gibson to accept the resignation of Rob Hyry, Transportation Supervisor, effective June 30, 2018 was supported by Karp. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto to accept the resignation of Tim Juba, HS Physical Science Teacher effective June 4, 2018 was supported by Karp. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Gibson to accept the resignation of Julianne Emerson, Senior High Knowledge Bowl Advisor, effective June 11, 2018 was supported by Karp. Roll call vote was called: Gibson-yea, Karp-yea, Chmielewski-yea, Lehto-yea, Emerson-abstain. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Karp to approve the termination of Marinelda Benko, Spanish Teacher effective June 4, 2018 was supported by Lehto. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto to approve the termination of Dalyce Gustafson for DAPE, effective June 4, 2018 was supported by Karp. Motion passed 5-0.

MOTION by Lehto at 8:10 p.m. to move to closed session for the purpose of contract negotiations was supported by Gibson. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting reopened at 8:23 p.m.
