CLOQUET — A Cloquet woman received $5,000 and a Moose Lake organization received $3,000 in the latest round of grant funding announced Tuesday, May 31, by the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council.

Alyssa Swanson of Cloquet received a $5,000 Arts Learning Grant to support a series of art classes for all ages at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth. The classes will pair art and science, artistically challenging the concepts of abstraction and realism and scientifically revealing the mysteries found within water, according to a news release. Participants will leave with artwork inspired by their observations at the aquarium.

The Agate Encores Community Concert series earned a $3,000 Rural and Community Art Project Grant to support the Highland String Quartet public concert scheduled for April 2, 2023. The performance will be held at the Moose Lake Community School auditorium.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
