Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College employees handed out spring semester food bundles to college students Friday, March 26.

Student government leaders at the Cloquet college hoped the spring semester food bundles would help address food needs of students and their families during the spring break week of public school districts, when some families may not have access to sufficient food resources via the traditional school lunch programs, according to a news release from FDLTCC.

The food bundles were filled and assembled into packages for contactless pickup. The bundles contained a variety of nonperishable “lunch bag” food that students chose through a registration survey.

Each bundle was made to meet the specific needs of each student, including the number of people in the student’s household. The bundles included items like Uncrustable sandwiches, trail mix, fruit cups, fruit snacks, juice boxes and more.

Students could pre-register to receive a customized food bundle. The college distributed 40 bundles that will impact about 150 people, the release said.
