NOTICE OF FINAL AGENCY DETERMINATION TO TAKE LAND "IN TRUST"

SUMMARY: The Superintendent, Minnesota Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the Interior, on the below date, made a final agency determination to acquire 208 acres, more or less, of land "in trust" for the Fond du Lac Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: This notice is published to comply with the requirement of 25 CFR 151.12(b) that notice be given to the public of the decision by the authorized representative of the Secretary of the Interior to acquire land "in trust" at least 30 days prior to signatory acceptance of land "in trust". The purpose of the 30-day waiting period in 25 CFR 151.12(b) is to afford interested parties the opportunity to seek judicial review of administrative decisions to take land "in trust" for tribes or individual Indians before transfer of title to the property occurs. On May 7, 2019, the Superintendent, Minnesota Agency, decided to accept 208 acres, more or less, of land "in trust" for the Fond du Lac Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, pursuant to the Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) of June 18, 1934 (48 Stat. 984; 25 U.S.C. 465).

The Superintendent, Minnesota Agency, on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior, shall acquire title in the name of the United States of America "in trust" for the Fond du Lac Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe to the following parcels of land no sooner than 30 days after the date this notice is published in newspapers of general circulation within the State of Minnesota, County of St. Louis..

The land referred to herein is situated in the State of Minnesota, St. Louis County, being more particularly described as follows:

Parcel 1: Government Lot 4, also described as the fractional Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NE 1/4 SW1/4), Section 3, Township 50N, Range 19W, 4th Principal Meridian, according to the United States Government Survey thereof.

Parcel 2: Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NW1/4 SW1/4), Section 3, Township 50N, Range 19W, 4th Principal Meridian, according to the United States Government Survey thereof.

Parcel 3: Southwest Quarter of Southwest Quarter (SW1/4 SW 1/4), Section 3, Township 50N, Range 19W, 4th Principal Meridian, according to the United States Government Survey thereof.

Parcel 4: Government Lot 5, also described as the fractional Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (SE1/4 SW1/4), Section 3, Township 50N, Range 19W, 4th Principal Meridian, according to the United States Government Survey thereof.

Parcel 5: Government Lot 1, also described as the fractional Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (NE1/4 NW1/4), Section 34, Township 51N, Range 19W, 4th Principal Meridian, according to the United States Government Survey thereof.
