The sixth annual Food for Thought fundraiser Thursday, Jan. 17, at Cloquet's Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College drew 300 attendees to sample fare from 18 local vendors.
There were comfort foods like salmon wild rice soup from Chef's Marketplace and chicken salad from Family Tradition, as well as Mexican sopes from The Street Car Kitchen and Pub, Raspberry basil chicken on butterkase cheese from Whole Foods Deli and dry-aged grilled lamb chops on rice-pilaf with rosemary infused demi-glaze from the Seven Fires Steakhouse.
The winner of the 2019 Golden Spoon was Cloquet's Carmen's Bar and Restaurant, which served barbecue beef ribs and coleslaw. Barnum's Michelle Eggen won the Silver Spoon dessert award with her Mom's Best Baklava.
Food for Thought raised over $20,000 was raised for the FDLTCC student scholarship fund.
