The third annual “Food for Thought: A Tasting Event” at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet is Thursday, Jan. 17, from 4:30-7 p.m. in the campus commons and amphitheater.

The event is sponsored by the FDLTCC Foundation as a major fundraiser for the student scholarship fund. It has raised more than $17,000 for the fund over the past two years, said Barb Wyman, chairperson of the FDLTCC Foundation Board.

“When we present the scholarships to the students, it’s always an amazing feeling to know that even a small scholarship can change the course of a student’s life,” she said.

More than 20 local vendors have volunteered to provide food and beverage samples.

A highlight of last year’s event returns: the Wall of Wine. For a donation of $20, guests select a random bottle of wine and an envelope containing a gift card ranging in value from $10-$40 donated from an area business. The 100-bottle Wall of Wine sold out last year.

A silent auction will include several high-value items, including hotel stays, rounds of golf, ski passes and more. There will also be a raffle for an anonymously donated $1,000 travel voucher.

Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 in advance; purchase at the FDLTCC Business Office Service Window, from board members and at foodforthought.zapevent.com.

The 2018 event reached the maximum capacity of 300 people; tickets are selling quickly again.
