Mike Haws, vice president of manufacturing for Sappi North America, has been appointed as president and CEO as of Oct. 1.

Haws, whose responsibilities include management of the Cloquet Mill, succeeds Mark Gardner, who is retiring after 12 years as president and CEO and 38 years with the company, according to a July 22 press release from Sappi Limited.

Haws joined Sappi North America in 2012 as managing director of the Somerset Mill and was promoted to vice president of manufacturing in 2015. Prior to joining Sappi, he held leadership roles with St. Regis Paper Co., Champion International, International Paper and Verso Paper.
