Green Bay-based Shopko announced Wednesday that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and posted a list of 105 stores closing, none of which are in the Northland.

The stores in Duluth, Two Harbors, Moose Lake, Ely, Aitkin and Spooner were not listed on a “Shopko Closing Locations” page posted to the company’s website.

Several Shopko locations throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, however, will close, according to the list.

In a news release, the Shopko said, “The Company is seeking to facilitate the restruing as a result of excess debt and ongoing competitive pressures.”

The closures account for almost one third of the company’s 360 stores.
