Prepare to be transported to the streets of 19th century England, as you watch the exploits and adventures of the young orphan boy, Oliver Twist, on the Cloquet High School stage this Thursday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 24. Music and lyrics for the stage adaptation were written by Lionel Bart. The play is directed by Kevin Hamre and features a large cast of student actors. "We are thrilled to bring the community together for this play," said Hamre. "We have several veteran high school actors, as well as several students who are new to the stage, ranging in age from 9 to 18.

Ezra Szczyrbak of Moose Lake-Willow River has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2013 Mr. Football Award, it was announced by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Wednesday. The Mr. Football Award is sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) and the Minnesota Vikings. The Mr. Football Award was first presented in 2004, with the first winner being Nick Mertens of East Grand Forks High School. The 2012 Mr. Football Award winner was Bridgeport Tusler of Osseo High School. The 2013 Mr. Football Award will be presented at the Mr.

Carlton County Veterans Service Officer Duane Brownie has announced that the Veterans Administration (VA) is partnering with Delta Dental and MetLife to allow eligible veterans, plus family members receiving care under the Civilian Health and Medical Program (CHAMPVA), to purchase affordable dental insurance. "VA continues to explore innovative ways to help veterans get access to the care and services they have earned and deserve," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki.
The public is invited to take part in a forum, "Democracy in Action: Voicing Your Opinion on Pipelines, Food and Community," on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 3-5 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Weber Hall, or from 7-9 p.m. at Mitchell Auditorium, College of St. Scholastica. Speakers will be discussing the proposed Enbridge Pipeline and how it affects the residents of the area.
