Local teenagers enjoy an impromptu hockey game at the city rink at Pinehurst Park, sometimes called the "jewel" of Cloquet's parks system. There is sledding and ice skating there in the winter, swimming, tennis, softball and lots playing there in the summer.

This drawing of a proposed Memorial Park on the east end of Dunlap Island feature a flag walk, a veterans' memorial, a memorial lawn area as large as the current plaza as well as parking improvements, a picnic area, a river overlook, a walking path and a green area around the Voyageur's statue. The stockade would likely be torn down.

A wiffleball seems to float in midair during a boys-versus-girls game at this year's July 4th festivities in Cloquet's Veterans Park, an event that perfectly illustrates the idea of a multiple-use park. Several years ago, a group made plans to add flowers, trees, shrubbery and benches to Veterans Park, but a number of task force members argue that the community would be better served by leaving the park more open for events.
