The unique glass floor that so many remember was actually three pieces of glass and not original to the Shaw building in 1920. It was probably added in the late 1930s. Many children found the draw of the almost magical floor irresistible and would go upstairs to walk on it and try to look through to the downstairs. This original piece of the floor is preserved at the Carlton County Historical Society that is now housed in the historic building. Jamie Lund/Pine Journal
