Frozen Forester found!
Natalie White and John Thoennes take off in the first Frozen Forester Adventure Run on Jan. 27. The unique 7.2-mile run took place in the wilds of Carlton County between Brookston and Floodwood and required a compass and a map to complete. Racers could cut five minutes from their time by wearing flannel, bringing a can of soup and/or bringing their own detailed map. White finished first in roughly 3 hours and 45 minutes; Thoennes finished second (and last since they were the only two racers). "There's room for growth," said race organizer Tim Krohn with a chuckle. Krohn also organizes the Lost Forester Adventure run in September. Photo special to the Pine Journal
