NORDIC SKIING: Fox finishes fourth

Freshman Erika Fox led the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Nordic ski team last Thursday with a fifth-place overall finish in the Grand Rapids High School Pursuit race, which asks its participants to switch from classic to skate skis midway through the 5.5-kilometer race. Fox finished in 20 minutes, 12.2 seconds at the meet, held at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine. Duluth East senior Ashley Herman won the girls race in 19:05.3.

Anja Maijala and Sylvie Deters, both freshmen, finished 18th and 19th for CEC, in 22:50.1 and 23:25.2,


Senior Nolan Ripp led the CEC boys team with a 13th place in 18:48.8. East sophomore Joe Rauzi won the race in 17:05.8. CEC sophomore Robbie Sobczak was his team’s next best finisher, taking 27th in 20:05.0.
