College football: UMD ranked No. 9
Minnesota Duluth moved up a spot to No. 9 in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division II poll.
The Bulldogs (4-1) defeated Minnesota State-Moorhead 49-21 on Saturday and leapfrogged two top-four teams which lost their first game. However, unbeaten Pittsburg (Kan.) State rose from No. 15 to No. 8 after knocking off top-ranked Northwest Missouri State 38-35. North Alabama took over the new No. 1 ranking.
UMD, whose only loss the past two seasons came earlier this year to Wayne (Neb.) State, remains the highest-ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team. Another Wayne State, the one located in Michigan, is at No. 6.
