Free rafting trip Saturday, reservations necessary
Northland Paddlers Alliance in partnership with Swiftwater Adventures will host its fifth and final event of the season from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. All are invited to join a whitewater rafting trip down the St. Louis River followed by a BBQ picnic. This free community paddling event is free to anyone, 12 or older (with adult).
Attendees at this event will have a chance to hone their paddling skills while also experiencing the unique beauty of the St. Louis River. Meet at 2 p.m. at the UMD Outpost/National Kayak and Canoe Center next to the Thomson Dam in Carlton. Equipment and instruction will be provided by experienced and professional in-raft guides.
"Our mission is to provide whitewater adventures to anyone and everyone, no experience necessary!" said owner Cliff Langley.
Pre-registration is required to save your spot on the raft and your food for the picnic. Go to www.eventbrite.com.
These events are supported with a grant from the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department and the efforts of Northland Paddler's Alliance, UMD Rec. Sports Outdoor Program, and Swiftwater Adventures.
