Boy, it won't be long now and school will be starting again. I hear that there are going to be some new faces at Cromwell-Wright School with folks leaving and positions to be filled. So, let's welcome all the new teachers and staff along with those who have been with us for several years.
I'd like to help announce that the 3rd Annual Wounded Warriors United Minnesota Motorcycle Ride will take place Aug. 25, starting at the Cromwell Pavilion in Cromwell. The cost is $20 per person, $30 per couple, and includes food and a raffle ticket. There will be a live band and Aftershock and free camping.
Not riding? Come anyway! There will be tons of raffle prizes and a silent auction and a bean bag tournament for those not riding. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and kickstands up at noon. Wounded Warriors United of Minnesota is a nonprofit organization that takes wounded and combat veterans from Minnesota hunting, fishing, camping and on other outdoor adventures. For questions or to donate, contact Logan at 218-390-1699, or visit wwumn.org.
At the recent Cromwell Area Historical Club meeting, there was a board brought in that had the name of Harvey Lumber Company, Cromwell, Minn., printed on it. Just wondering if anyone has any information about this lumber company?
I had a chance to attend the most recent Triad Meeting at the Carlton County Transportation Building on Aug. 1. These meetings are always open to any senior citizens, start at 10 a.m., are very informative and they usually last only one hour. John Parenteau gave the program on scams taking place in our area. He is the protection officer that will help you report scams and give you advice on what to look for in this area of fraud. The next meeting will be Sept. 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 10 a.m.
The man who won the gun in the recent gun raffle for Wrong Days donated it back to them, so it will be raffled off again and the drawing will take place around deer hunting season in November. Tickets will be $1.
