Wright-Cromwell News Aug. 2 2017

There are so many folks who make the Wrong Days in Wright event possible and many groups were able to have their annual fundraisers in conjunction with Wrong Days. As we tally up the totals taken in, the WD committee has to take into account the many groups that were able to make money to help their causes. It was also decided that next year we would try to have a bigger and better fireworks display.

O-G-N-I-B (BINGO) was a great success, thanks to all of you. Playing cribbage to lose was also successful. We had about 20 players and played five games. The losers (who were the winners) were John Larsen 494, Tammy LaDean 514, Bob Johnson 515, Rick Gresczyk 531, and Pam Linkert and John Peterson tied with 555. Trisha Giernett won the high crib with 17. We took in about $200 from OGNIB and cribbage for the senior building in Wright. Thanks to those who donated. And for those who would like to help support the senior citizens, donations can always be sent to Shirley Walli, 1613 Bobiltoy Lane, Tamarack, MN 55787.

The winners of the Wrong Days raffle drawing were Teri Maninen (gun), Jean Stenson ($100), and Randy Wood ($50 gift certificate from Farmer's Co-op in Wright). Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported Wrong Days this year.

There will be a special election Tuesday, Aug. 8, conducted by mail for the city of Cromwell to vote on splitting the current liquor license so a new establishment can be built in Cromwell.

The annual meeting of the Farmer's Co-op Store in Wright will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Wright Senior Citizens building to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law, including election of directors, changes to the bylaws and reducing the number of directors from seven to five of the cooperative, and any other business that is legally presented will be considered. All qualified members are encouraged to attend. There will be a light lunch and door prizes following the meeting.

Toini Aho's ashes were laid to rest Aug. 2 in the Wright Public Cemetery by her family. She was one of the founders of Wrong Days in Wright along with Francis Gregg, Pat Chambers and several others. It's great to know that this tradition is still going strong!
