Roger James Gallea

Roger James Gallea, 77, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Renaissance Hospital in Edinburg, TX after a brief battle with cancer. Born on January 28, 1941 in Duluth, MN to Howard and Charlotte (Bowers) Gallea, he graduated Esko High School in 1959 and then attended chef school in Chicago, IL. He opened a drive-in restaurant in Esko called Rog's Galley. He married Bonnie Swanson in 1964. Roger delivered oil for Lakeland, Best Oil, and Trico. He spent the last 18 years wintering in Weslaco, TX with his companion, Verna Louze. Roger loved to cook, read, and go hunting and fishing.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Della; niece, Cheryl; and bother-in-law, Robert. He is survived by his significant other, Verna Louze of Duluth; children, Kip Gallea of Chicago, IL, Kandi (Brian) Hoaglund of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Brendan and Dirk Hoaglund; sisters, Audrey Boss of Cloquet, Alice (Ronald) Burggraff of Cloquet, many nieces and nephews, and special dog, Mikey.
