James C. Erickson
James C. Erickson, age 84, of Cloquet, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born February 14, 1933 in Bemidji to Hjalmer and Irene Erickson. Jim played football and graduated from Bemidji State College in 1955, and received his master's degree from St. Cloud State. He taught and coached football in Argyle, MN until 1958. Jim then served Carlton High School for 34 years as a teacher, football, track, and basketball coach; as well as Athletic Director and counselor. He was very honored to have the Carlton football field dedicated in his honor. Jim enjoyed summers at Eagle Lake near Cromwell, and the winter months at Village of Apache Wells in Mesa, AZ.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John, Douglas, and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Joan, who he married in 1964; son, Kraig (Christine) Erickson and their children, Stephanie and Jacob; daughter, Rebecca (Dan) Perzichilli and their children, Leah, Mark, and Micah; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 (his birthday) from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet.
