Anne Davenport Lah, 54, of Cloquet, Minn. passed away August 22, 2018 at home of natural causes. Anne was born August 8, 1964, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Dr. Jay and Martha Davenport. She was a proud 1982 graduate of Martin Hughes High School, in Buhl, Minn. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School. Anne met the love of her life in George Lah, in 1984, when both performed in the Summer Singers troupe at what was then the Iron Range Interpretive Center, in Chisholm, Minn. The two were married in 1988 in Hibbing, Minn., and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. Anne and George created a beautiful family, with sons Gabriel, 19, and Elias, 16, each adopted from Guatemala.
Anne was an accomplished and skilled attorney for Legal Aid Services of Northeastern Minnesota, serving underprivileged and low-income families for nearly 14 years. She discovered a new career, vocation and passion as a music teacher at Queen of Peace School in Cloquet. Anne inspired and challenged the children of Queen of Peace with her gift of music. More recently, she taught Spanish to all of her students after completing a self-taught program over the course of one summer.
Anne will be remembered by many for her exceptional talents as a vocalist, a pianist and composer, a local actor and play director, a wonderful cook and community volunteer. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, colleague and friend to so many. Her sense of humor, passion for helping others and love of the outdoors will never be forgotten.
Anne is survived by her loving and devoted husband George, sons Gabriel and Elias, her parents, a brother, Ryan (Tara), a sister, Mae (Kitty); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Austin.
