Lavina Anna Martin

Lavina Anna Martin, 101, of Cromwell died Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Villa Vista Care Center. Lavina was born May 6, 1916 in Blackhoof Township, the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Baker) Goodman. She graduated from Carlton High School in 1934 as the Valedictorian. Lavina married Walter Martin on July 16, 1938 in Wrenshall. She had worked at the Cromwell Bakery and the Mercantile Store for short periods. Lavina had been the Cromwell Village Clerk for 30 years. Her favorite pastimes were baking, sewing and flower gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brothers, Robert, Frank, and Fred, Jr.

Lavina is lovingly survived by her children, Richard (Darcy) Martin of Bluffton, SC, Shirley (Douglas) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Eric (Linda) Martin of Amado, AZ, Michael (Carmen) Martin of Cromwell and Marilyn (Randy) Gibbs of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service in the Bethany Lutheran Church, 5660 Hwy 210, Cromwell. Inurnment will be with her husband at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
