Legislators to hold town hall meeting on well water quality
Residents of Twin Lakes Township are invited to talk to their legislators and others about water issues, including high levels of arsenic and poor water quality in other areas.
State Senator Tony Lourey and Representative Mike Sundin will host an informational town hall meeting on well water quality at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the Carlton County Transportation Building, 1630 County Road 61, Carlton.
Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Pollution Control and the Minnesota Department of Health will be on hand to present and answer questions about well water quality monitoring and remediation.
According to Twin Lakes Township Clerk Sue Chapin, the forum was planned as part of an ongoing plan to construct a water line out to the Highway 210 business district, Olsonville, and the Schmitz Road area (which is near the old landfill on Highway 210). Some residents in the Schmitz Road area have been dealing with high arsenic levels for several years.
