Moose Lake Community School students, staff and chaperones had a blast as they visited some of Chicago's most famous landmarks and attractions during a recent music department trip.

They visited the Museum of Science and Industry, Navy Pier, John Hancock Building, Michigan Ave, Hard Rock Cafe, the "Bean," Museum District, Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Shedd Aquarium and more.

When students visited Wheaton College, they received masterclasses from world renowned professors. The choir worked with the director of performance studies, Mary Hopper, who is also the National American Choral Directors Association past president.

The band students learned about many world instruments from percussion and music history professor Kathleen Kastner. She presented her personal collection from her travels and provided information and demonstrations of instruments the students had never even heard of. The collection ranged from Chinese erhus to Javanese gangsa.

Band and choir students then toured the Conservatory's new state-of-the-art facilities.
