At the March 21 Carlton School Board meeting Superintendent Gwen Carman presented Certificates of Congratulations to the school board and school business manager Renee Eiffler for the district being awarded the Minnesota Department of Education’s 2016 School Finance Award for FY 2015 Financial Reporting.

School districts receive this award based on presence of select indicators of fiscal health — including positive fund balances, timely submission of financial data, and compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Superintendent Carman commended the board and Eiffler for their leadership, integrity, perseverance and fiscal management. This award is particularly meaningful because the district was in Statutory Operating Debt for several years. Carman replaced former superintendent Peter Haapala who worked with the district from 2010 through January 2016.
