Paint vandals strike again
Cloquet Interim Police Chief Terry Hill said that the most recent round of paint vandalism that occurred last weekend is “very similar” to the one that happened a few weeks ago in the same area. A report came in at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, saying someone had dumped, smeared and splashed paint on vehicles in the 300 to 1000 blocks along Carlton Avenue in Cloquet.
Hill said the tan, water-based paint was similar to that used in the previous incidents, and once again, it came from cans and not aerosol spray bottles. At the time the crime was reported, the paint was still wet, so officers went from door to door to notify home and business owners so they could wash off the paint before it dried.
Hill said at least 30 vehicles, campers and other subjects were targeted and thus far there are no leads in either case. He called it “senseless actions” that should be reported to police by anyone having any information.
