Police investigate assault at local park

An 18-year-old Cloquet man reported from Community Memorial Hospital that he was punched in the eye at Cloquet’s Pinehurst Park before 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. The single punch caused an orbital fracture (meaning the bones around the eye), according to Cloquet Police Chief Steve Stracek, who said the injury was serious enough to elevate the assault to the felony level.

Stracek said the incident did not appear to be random, adding that police are still working on identifying the suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Cloquet Police Department at 218-879-1247.
