Carlton County water quality good
The overall water quality in Carlton County is pretty good, according to Brad Matlack, district manager for Carlton County Soil and Water District.
Matlock addressed the Carlton County Board of Commissioners during the regular meeting Tuesday morning.
He informed the board a few area lakes have seen a spike in E.coli, but that could be caused by the influx of fowl in the areas.
"'One Watershed, One Plan' is a very important aspect and I thank you for your support of that," Matlack said to the commissioners.
Wild rice waters programs have been successful.
"There are 450 acres of prime wild rice shoreline habitat that has been preserved in its current form," Matlack said. "It's pretty amazing when you pull up and so many different types of waterfowl fly up off of the lake."
