Carlton Schools will hold two community meetings April 5
Carlton Public Schools is holding two public community engagement meetings Wednesday, April 5. There will be a 6 p.m. meeting at the Carlton High School small gym. A free meal and childcare will be provided and children and teenagers are encouraged to attend.
For those unable to attend the evening meeting, a separate community engagement meeting is being held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Public House (formerly the Cozy Café) at 214 Chestnut Ave., Carlton. Dessert and coffee will be provided.
At the community engagement meetings, audience members will learn about options for the district’s school facilities, a potential August referendum, and be given a chance to provide feedback in person. Students, parents, teachers, staff, and all members of the district’s communities are encouraged to attend and participate.
Since November 2016, the Carlton School District has held four community meetings. A community facilities committee has met numerous times since January, reviewing information about the physical needs for repairs and maintenance to Carlton High School and South Terrace Elementary School along with building plans, cost estimates and tax impact projections. The committee will take feedback from the community into account and make recommendations to the Carlton School Board. The board will consider possible options based on the committee’s final recommendations.
