Peterson Westerberg American Legion Post 415 and Auxiliary will have their Annual Veterans Day Supper on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Barnum Community Center. Social time begins at 5:30 with a potluck supper at 6 p.m.
Guest speakers will be Ward Wallin, volunteer program administrator, from the Silver Bay Veterans Home and the Girls and Boys State Candidates. All veterans and families are invited.
Carlton VFW Post 2962 will have a program at 5 p.m. followed by a roast beef dinner at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Carlton VFW, 124 Chestnut St. Veterans eat free and non-veterans are $5.
The Cloquet VFW Post 3979 and American Legion Post 262 will jointly host a free meal for veterans from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the VFW building on Arch Street in Cloquet. All veterans are invited to enjoy a meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and more. Admission for non-military guests is $8. No RSVP is necessary.
The Carlton County Historical Society will present a program about Carlton County veterans at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at its museum at 406 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet.
Two historic veterans’ memorial plaques will be on view and the museum's director, Rachael Martin, will discuss the veterans memorialized on these plaques. One plaque was recently donated from the Carlton County Courthouse and lists veterans who were employed by the county. Another plaque is part of the museum's current exhibit, “Wood City Smokestacks,” highlighting Cloquet's wood products industries. As part of the Northwest Paper Company history on exhibit is a World War II memorial plaque of the paper mill's employees.
Refreshments will be served after the program. Veterans will be admitted free of charge for the program. Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible. Cromwell and Wright
A Veterans Day Program will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Cromwell-Wright School in the big gym. All veterans, active military, and families are invited so you can be recognized and honored for your service and dedication to our country. All veterans and guests, please wait in the entryway to the school until escorted into the gym. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria following the ceremony.
The sixth annual Veterans Day Program will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Cardinal Court/Villa Vista. Veterans will be asked to tell their memories of military service as the seniors from Cromwell-Wright High School will be at this event to ask questions and listen to the stories and memories. A luncheon for the veterans will be served and if you have any uniforms, photographs, military souvenirs or medals, please bring them along to share, too. The community is also welcome to attend and hear the military stories of our local vets.
