Tiny Alahna Jean-Sue Johnson made her grand appearance into the world at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, in the birthing suites at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. Alahna was the first baby born at CMH in 2017.
Her parents, Jaclyn Suzanne Furtman and Shane Orrin Johnson, are excited to welcome the baby into the family. The family received a basket of items donated by the hospital and a number of local businesses for the first baby of the New Year.
Everything was normal throughout the pregnancy, labor and delivery, said Jaclyn. Furtman’s water broke at 8 p.m. Monday and the labor progressed from there until the delivery Tuesday evening by Dr. Charles Kendall and Kerri Schneberger, RN.
“An epidural is the greatest thing. I should have done that with all of my kids,” Furtman said.
Alahna weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces. Alahna joins siblings Brady, 17, Camryn, 16, Zander, 14, and Brynn, 5.
Alahna’s original due date was Jan. 14, which is her oldest brother’s 18th birthday.
Her maternal grandmother is Sue Monahan of Cloquet and paternal grandparents are David Johnson and Patricia Johnson of Meadowlands.
