Upcoming: All-Star big band show at Black Bear Casino in Carlton
A 17-piece big band with an all-star roster is offering a USO-style show, free for veterans, at Black Bear Casino in Carlton.
The show features the debut of the band B4, comprised of some longtime Minnesota music fixtures.
It includes Mary Louise Knutson, a Minneapolis-based jazz pianist and composer who has played with Dizzy Gillespie and Bobby McFerrin; trombone player Michael B. Nelson and trumpet player Steve Strand, both from Hornheads, who toured with Prince for a decade; Christine Rosholt, a Minneapolis-based jazz vocalist; and Clay Pufahl, who has played with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Four Tops and Lou Rawls.
The Randy Lee Orchestra also is performing.
The Lawrence Welk-style show includes dance by Suzanne Kritzberg and Reinhard von Rabenau of the Minnesota Ballet.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Otter Creek Event Center. Tickets are available at the Players Club Booth at the casino. Limit four per person.
