Carlton County passed a major milestone lately when commissioners made the tough decision to levy for a new building to house its health and human services departments, along with a smattering of other underserved county departments.
The dream is beginning to take shape.
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Carlton County Board, commissioners got their first official look at the schematic design for the proposed new health and human services building, now referred to as the Carlton County Community Services Center, to be located adjacent to the city hall building in downtown Cloquet.
Memorial Day services and cemetery visits are being planned throughout the area by local veterans organizations for next Monday, May 26.
Cloquet-area observances are being planned by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3979, American Legion Post 262, Disabled Veterans Chapter 18, AmVets Post 17, American Ex-Prisoners of War and their respective auxiliaries.
Cloquet city administrators got a bit of a jolt Tuesday when an e-mail from Carlton County asked them to provide extremely detailed information about a potential site in downtown Cloquet for a new county health and human services building – by May 16.
