Freshman goalie Matt McNeely made his first collegiate start and freshman center Cal Decowski scored his first collegiate goal as No. 13 Minnesota Duluth defeated No. 9 Notre Dame 3-1 tonight in a nonconference college men's hockey game before about 4,500 fans at the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.
COLLEGE HOCKEY: The Minnesota Duluth men remained No. 13 in the U.S. College Hockey Division I poll released Monday following a season-opening weekend split of games at home against Ohio State. The Bulldogs (1-1) play at No. 9 Notre Dame (2-0) on Thursday and Friday in South Bend, Ind.
