Sitting seven shots back on Sunday, Cloquet native John Sheff surged from behind with his final-round 70, only to fall short in a playoff with Dan Moline and eventual-champion Alex Kolquist at the 82nd Cloquet Invitational at the Cloquet Country Club.
Brett Morrison said there was nothing easy about sitting out before the final round of the boys golf sections last year.
Now, the Cloquet senior is sitting in the boys state golf meet.

Wedged between sunrise and the first bell at school, Brett Morrison and other members of the Cloquet-Esko boys golf team have been bettering their game for nearly a month indoors during early morning practice sessions at Esko’s Lincoln School.
Over a quarter century ago, Carlton businessman Harold Ankrum and a group of his friends decided to plan a little “guys’ get together” on the local golf course. As the years went by, the golf event got bigger and bigger, and “All of a sudden,” said Ankrum, “we were making more like $4,000 on it!”
He gives it all to cancer-related causes.
