Jerimy Hallsten said he will be bringing extra clothing, including winter hats and gloves, to Thursday’s Section 7A cross country meet at the Cloquet Country Club, as a snowstorm swathed the course last year. Thursday’s forecast predicts a slight chance of flurries again and high temperatures barely breaking 40.
Kailee Kiminski didn’t surprise anyone last Thursday when the junior speedster won the 3,500-meter girls exhibition to begin the season. Erika Shady, a senior, was also among the top finishers, as the pair now prepares to pace Esko following last year’s Class A state championship title.
Marisa Shady, the seasoned senior, and Kiminski, a speedy sophomore, helped steer the Eskomos to the Class A girls team title at the Minnesota state high school cross country championships Saturday morning on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
Marisa Shady again carried the Eskomos at last Thursday’s Section 7A cross country meet, where the 5-foot-6 superstar won her third straight individual title and led Esko to their fourth consecutive championship at the Cloquet Country Club, on a course that was soggy from an early morning rain that changed to wind and snow for the section meet.
