One proudly displayed the vest of a disabled American veteran. It would probably be safe to say that all of them were easily into their 70s, and it was apparent by the set of their shoulders that they were there for a reason.

Myrtle M. Beardsley
Myrtle M. Beardsley, 82, of Proctor and Duluth, Minn., passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness, with her family at her side. She was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Bear Lake, Rusk County, Wis., to Wendall "Hap" and Flossie Gillett. On July 3, 1959, Myrtle married Carol Beardsley in Nashua, Iowa, at “The Little Brown Church in the Vale.” They moved to Duluth in 1966 from Rice Lake, Wis. Myrtle was active as a den mother with the Boy Scouts and as an advisor with the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion.
