Forest Stillwell
Forest Stillwell, known as “Cuds” and “Rev. Ply,” 79, of Carlton, Minn., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, Minn. He was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Cloquet, Minn., the son of Forest and Evie Stillwell. Forest was a 1954 graduate of Cloquet High School and later served in the U.S. Air Force. As a child he was a member of Boy Scouts and attended many camps and activities. On June 11, 1966, Forest married Ingeborg Hertel. Forest was the owner/operator of the Kings and Queens Salon at the Greysolon in Duluth, but when he wasn’t working he loved to be outside working on his many rock and flower gardens. One of Forest's greatest passions was restoring old Mopar cars, and that passion followed through as he detailed cars at Carlton Motorwerks for many years. Forest loved spending time with his family at the cabin, going on long car trips all over the country, and eating out, especially at a good German restaurant.

Glen 'Pat' Smith
Glen "Pat" Smith, 67, of Nisswa, Minn., died at his home Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. Pat was born Sept. 4, 1945, in Graceville, Minn., the son of Francis and Margaret (Clark) Smith. Following his graduation from Benson High School, Pat attended the University of Minnesota Morris. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On June 1, 1968, he was united in marriage to Alice Hennen. The couple lived in Benson and Cloquet, Minn., before making their home the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1987 when they purchased Martinson Insurance Agency, which they renamed Brainerd Insurance Agency. Pat cared about his clients and his community - he was active in Rotary, Cub Scouts and St. Christopher's Catholic Church. Pat was also a past board member of the Initiative Foundation, Minnesota Independent Agents Association, Northland Arboretum, and Brainerd Lakes Area Development Corporation.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Eleanor Josephine Johnson, 83, of St. Cloud, Minn., formerly of Esko and Sebeka, Minn., will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud. A private burial will take place at a later date. Eleanor died early Monday morning on Oct. 8, 2012, and joined the love of her life, Harvey. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Leonard Edwin Tillman, 88, of Anchorage, Alaska, died of natural causes on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. Leonard was born March 22, 1924, in Cloquet, Minn. After completing high school, he served in the Army. He was a soldier in the 89th Infantry Division, serving in World War II from 1942-1946. His division was involved in the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp. He married his wife, Barb Quinn, also from Cloquet, in 1947. They resided in Minnesota, then Colorado for several years, before moving to Eagle River, Alaska in 1967.
