County attorney files warrant for man wanted for questioning in attempted homicide case
Carlton County Attorney Thom Pertler has filed a complaint of child neglect against John Edwin Bemis III, 37, the ex-husband of the Cloquet woman accused of shooting her current (but estranged) husband. The complaint alleges that Bemis abandoned his child when he fled the day after the shooting.

Woman pleads guilty to child endangerment for leaving baby in car while she gambled
Jordanne Teryce Setterquist, 26, of Cloquet, was arrested and charged on June 16, 2012, after Fond du Lac police officers were dispatched to the Black Bear Casino Resort parking lot regarding a report of a young infant who was left in an unattended vehicle in the casino parking lot for approximately 45 minutes.

Family’s possessions go up in smoke
According to Esko Fire Chief Jeff Juntunen, someone reported smoke in the area at 2:01 a.m. Thursday, but by the time Carlton County deputies found the source of the smoke, the house at 110 Rio Drive had burned “right to the slab.” Fortunately, there were no injuries or loss of life.
